SEND Information
At Wood Fold we have high aspirations for all our children and have developed a broad and balanced curriculum that is stimulating and engaging for all groups of learners. We follow a graduated approach to SEND, adapting our provision to meet pupils’ needs and removing barriers to learning and participation.
There are three stages, known as ‘waves’, that outline the provision that we provide for pupils with SEND:
Wave 1: Quality first teaching ensures that children access high quality, inclusive teaching that is adapted and personalised according to need.
Wave 2: Some children will need additional support to help accelerate their progress. This may be in the form of a targeted intervention provided by a teacher or teaching assistant.
Wave 3: This is the highest level of support available within a mainstream school, involving more intensive support, for example through highly-personalised provision. This may also include specialist interventions and/or advice from external agencies.
For more detail about the different waves of provision, please see our Waves of Provision document below.
Teachers monitor the progress of all the pupils in their class closely. Where a pupil is not making the level of progress expected for their age, the teacher will put in place additional help and support to help them to help them catch-up. Some pupils in school may be identified as having a special educational need (SEN) and will require additional support to remove any barriers to learning. They may have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) with specific targets that we will help them to work towards. This will be shared with you and reviewed on a termly basis.
If you have any concerns about your child’s progress, please speak to your child’s teacher and/or the SENDCO.
