What an exciting and busy week we've had in Year 1! Here's a snapshot of all the wonderful learning and activities your children have been up to:

English

This week, we have continued to delve into the delightful story The Rabbit Problem. The children focused on making inferences from the text, practicing their critical thinking and understanding. They also got creative, describing what a scarecrow looks like—a brilliant opportunity to expand their vocabulary and descriptive writing skills.

Maths

We explored addition and subtraction up to 20, including related facts to strengthen their understanding of number relationships. The children showed great enthusiasm while solving problems and applying their newfound skills.

Geography

In our geography lessons, we learned about the UK's surrounding seas. The children discovered their names and locations, sparking some great discussions about our island home and its natural features.

Science

Signs of spring were all around us on our exciting nature walk! The children explored the outdoors, looking for budding flowers and other indicators of the changing season. They learned to differentiate between wildflowers and garden flowers—a perfect activity to deepen their understanding of nature.

World Book Day

We celebrated the joy of reading on World Book Day! The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, and the enthusiasm was infectious. Thank you to all parents for supporting this fantastic event. The class enjoyed reading sessions, storytelling, fun activities and sharing their love of books with friends.

It has been a wonderful week, full of curiosity, exploration, and learning. Thank you for your continued support in your child's education—we couldn't do it without you!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Warm regards, The Year 1 Team
