Date: 3rd Feb 2025 @ 3:04pm
We have had another fantastic week in Year 5T, with the highlight of our week being our incredible school trip on Thursday! We visited Tatton Park to participate in an Anglo - Saxon workshop, and we had lots of fun outside, partipating in a variety of activities including outdoor cookery, preparing for battle, learning about trade and much more! The children even brought some weaving home with them and some of them were busy completing it on the coach trip home! As you can see from the photographs, we had an amazing, action packed day and learnt lots!
English
In English this week, we have planned and written Eye witness accounts based upon our class text, Viking Boy, by Tony Bradman. We considered which charatcters may have been present in Orm's hall when Gunnar was captured and brought to Orm (chapter 7). We all thought about what our Viking names may have been, and decided what we may have been doing in the King of Kaupang's hall when we saw Gunnar enter. We were a mixture of cooks, peasants, guards, servants or people eating, and the children worked hard to ensure their writing was in the first and third person, included effective vocabulary, and gave an accurate account of events in chronological order. Well done everybody!
Maths
We have moved onto fractions in Maths, and have learnt how to multiply unit and non - unit fractions as well as mixed numbers by integers, remembering that the denominator does not change! We have all been experts at converting mixed numbers and improper fractions and have had a good go at solving related problems.
Times Tables
Wow! What a huge effort we have put in this week! We have looked at our 11 and 12 times tables as well as their related division facts. We have absolutely loved completing our new times tables books and our scores from our quizzes are vastly improving! Keep up the effort, the Hit the Button game is fantastic for practising at home too: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button.
Well done to all certificate winners and raffle ticket recipients this week, and thank you all for your hard work and engagement in your tasks and lessons.
Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday!
