This week, we have finished our class text, The Girl Who Lost a Leopard. The children were enthralled by the dramatic twists and turns towards the end of the story.
I was super impressed with how well the children have started to sew their drawstring bags in DT. The classroom was silent as each child used running stitches to make a tunnel for their draw string to go through. It will be wonderful to finish and evaluate the bags this week.
In Science, we conducted an investigation on the permeability of each different rock type. We used a pipette to drop 2ml of water on a sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock. After short observations, the children concluded that the sedimentary rock is permeable whilst the igneous and metamorphic were impermeable.
Today, in science, we explored the meaning of the word fossil. Amazingly, Oscar had kindly brought in a fossil for the class to look at which really supported our understanding of what a fossil is.
In Georgaphy, we have identified the different parts of a river. Today, we labelled the source, stream, tributaries and mouth before sequencing how a river forms. Free that, we explored the three courses of a river and how the speed of the water and depth of the riverbed changes from one to another.
