Hi everyone!
This week has been another fantastic one in Year 6, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to:
Parent’s Evening:
It was such a pleasure to welcome so many parents and carers to our two Parent’s Evening sessions. It’s always wonderful to celebrate how well the children have settled into Year 6 and to share their achievements so far. Thank you for your support!
Maths:
In Maths, we’ve been exploring and converting units of measurement. The children have confidently tackled converting between metric units (e.g., grams to kilograms, millilitres to litres) and have also worked on solving problems involving time and length. They’ve shown excellent perseverance and reasoning skills!
English:
Our reading of Pig Heart Boy continues to spark thoughtful discussions. This week, we focused on the emotional impact of Cameron’s heart transplant on himself, his family, and his friends. The children are showing real empathy as they explore the challenges faced by the characters.
History:
In History, we delved deeper into Henry VIII and the Reformation. We learned how Henry broke away from the Catholic Church to form the Church of England, the reasons behind his six marriages, and the significant changes to religion in England during his reign. The class has been fascinated by the drama and power struggles of this period!
Art:
Our self-portrait project has taken a big leap forward. This week, we learned about the proportions of facial features and how to combine these with shadowing techniques to create depth and realism, just like Ileana Hunter! The children’s skills are really improving – they’ve really impressed us with their attention to detail - and we're looking forward to starting our final pieces in the coming weeks.
It’s been a brilliant week of learning and creativity.
We'd finally like to thank you everyone who had made a donation to The Brick. It's been truly amazing to see such wonderful support for our local community. Have a lovely weekend!
