This week we completed our topic about polar regions by creating ‘Arctic collages’. The children used their knowledge to experiment with colours and textures before creating their finished masterpieces in their sketchbooks!

For our Forest School this week the children thought about squirrels. They each had a piece of food to hide which represented the squirrel hiding nuts for winter. When they had to find them again, they realised how difficult life would be at as a squirrel in winter – some of them would have gone very hungry!

In English the children have been exploring the Julia Donaldson text, Stick Man. We have used this book as inspiration for our Drawing Club lessons and the children have created lots of different scenarios inspired by the text. In Maths, the children have been learning about shapes with 4 sides square and rectangles. The children have been discussing their properties then looking for the shapes in the environment.

The children have been introduced to two new sounds, /j/ and /w/ in Sounds-Write and they are already putting these sounds into words.

Mr Carr was very impressed with the children in PE. They practised their climbing skills using the climbing frame. It was fantastic seeing the children climb higher than they did previously, with some of the children reaching the very top!

Mrs Johns shared the Christmas Nativity story with the children in RE and they explored the different characters and was a lovely introduction to the Christmas season.

Well done as always to our star of the week and dojo winner.
