Welcome to a new class blog from Y5T! The children all returned refreshed and raring to go after their half-term break! This week has been packed with lots of learning, activities, and exciting experiences.
Maths: In Maths, we’ve been continuing to conquer fractions. We've successfully completed our White Rose unit on fractions, applying our newfound knowledge to various problem-solving tasks. Our times tables have also seen tremendous improvement – the entire class can now answer 48 questions with ease. Well done, everyone!
English: Our journey with our fantastic Viking Boy book has come to an exhilarating end. Without giving away any spoilers, I can tell you that a cheer erupted around the classroom when we discovered how the story concluded! We delved into the characters' thoughts and feelings at different points in the story, and selected evidence from the text to support our answers. We will be starting another new, exciting text very soon so watch this space!
Careers Week: This week has been particularly special because we had visits from inspiring professionals from different careers every afternoon to talk to us. Huge thanks must go to all of the amazing people who generously gave up their time to talk to Year 5 and answer our many questions. We were fascinated to find out more about careers in a range of areas from engineering, law, NHS careers to sports and more. The children asked some incredibly thoughtful questions, and have enjoyed finding about a variety of different roles and jobs. Special thanks to Miss Hunter for organizing this fantastic careers week for us.
Sponsored Fun Run: On Friday morning, we completed our sponsored fun run. A massive thank you to Mr. Cartwright for coming in to help us with this event and encouraging us to complete our 2K run. We are thrilled to announce that we've raised a substantial amount of money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice, thank you to everybody for your generous sponsorships.
As always, well done to all certificate and raffle winners, and thank you all for your hard work.
It's been a fantastic week, and we can't wait to see what the next one has in store for us! Don’t forget we have World Book Day next Thursday to look forward to!
