Hi everyone,
We’ve had another busy and productive week in Year 6! Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to:
English:
Our journey with Holes continues, and we’ve read about Stanley’s challenges as he settles into life at Camp Green Lake. The children have been discussing the relationships between the characters and the harsh realities of life at the camp, with some fantastic insights shared during lessons.

Maths:
This week, we wrapped up our work on ratio and proportion. The children have done an excellent job applying their knowledge to solve a variety of real-world problems, and they’re ready to tackle new topics next week.

Science:
We’ve been preparing for next week’s investigation, where we’ll explore what causes shadows and how different objects and angles affect them. The children are excited to put their scientific skills to the test!

Design Technology:
In DT, we evaluated the texture of pasta and experimented with different cooking methods. The highlight was, of course, the taste-testing session! The children thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to incorporating what they’ve learned into their healthy recipes.

Geography:
We've been linking our learning in Geography with our upcoming Junior Speaks challenge: the children have been working on their oracy skills, and this helped them create posters and presentations about the land uses of Snowdonia, Ghana, and the Amazon Basin. They’ve worked hard to share the unique features of each region – the results were fantastic!

It’s been a brilliant week, and we’re so proud of the children’s efforts. Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!
