In Year 4 this week we have started our new text ‘Who Let the Gods Out?’ We have started to analyse the differences between the headteacher and the deputy headteacher who we met in the first chapter. We have been busy exploring new vocabulary to help us understand the text. We have also been tackling plurals and apostrophes for possession. The children often add an apostrophe in plural words so we have been learning the difference between the meaning of dog’s and dogs, girls and girl’s etc.
In maths, we have started to learn about area, we know this means the space inside a closed shape. We have been counting square inside the shape to work out the area.
In science we have been exploring states of matter and explaining the differences between solids, liquids and gases. We have been looking at their particle arrangements in more detail, identifying the differences between these. We completed some match up activities in our tables to help with remembering these.
In History, we have started looking at the timeline of Ancient Greece identifying two important civilisations, the Minoans and Mycenaeans. We learnt all about where they settled and the differences between their way of life.
