We have had a fun week this week particularly as it snowed and the children loved it.

On Monday the children went to the forest where they had lots of fun exploring. On Tuesday they had some extra time outside to make the most of the snow! They enjoyed making snowballs and throwing them in the air and those who preferred the warm, like Mrs Burland, enjoyed watching from inside!

In Maths this week, the children have been continuing to explore numbers to 5. They have been learning about 1 more and 1 less and have singing counting songs, such as ‘5 Currant Buns’ to practise this learning. In English, the children have used an animation, Pingu to inspire their drawing and writing. They even had to design a vegetable ice-lolly for Pingu to make sure he ate his vegetables!

We have continued learning about penguins and the children have been recalling facts brilliantly. We have learned about the way the male emperor penguin cares for his egg and chick. The children cut out pictures of the different life stages: egg, chick, fledgling and adult penguin and created their own penguin life cycles.

In PE this week the children were practising different rolls with Mr Carr. These included, pencil roll and a pencil roll. Mr Carr said he was impressed with the class as they could all do a teddy roll! In music, they have continued to learn their song for the Christmas production. The children did a little performance for me and I was amazed at how well they sung it! There are some definite stage performers in the class.

We have begun learning about Winter this week and what signs we can see in our environment that show this. We discussed how many trees have lost all their leaves and how the temperature has changed and also how these changes affect the wildlife.
