Year 4 Weekly Round-Up

What an exciting week we’ve had in Year 4!

In Maths, we have been looking at mixed numbers, working hard to understand, compare, and order them—from smallest to greatest and greatest to smallest. We’ve also been practicing our times tables skills, making sure we can recite them fluently, both in and out of order.

In English, we stepped into the shoes of Queen Boudica herself! Taking on her powerful voice, we wrote persuasive letters aimed at rallying the Iceni warriors to join her fight against the Romans. Let’s just say, our persuasive skills were as fierce as Boudica’s determination!

In History, we continued learning about the Romans. We learned all about Julius Caesar’s failed attempts to conquer Britain, he wasn’t quite ready to take on the British weather or navigate the freezing waters in heavy armour. We then explored how Emperor Claudius succeeded where Caesar did not, thanks to his larger army, superior machinery, and the use of war elephants.

In Art, we completed our “artist on a page” projects and continued our exploration of Still Life. The creativity shown on the “artist on a page” was lovely to see.

In Science, we’ve been discovering the seven characteristics of living things, using the handy acronym MRSGREN to help us remember them all. From Movement to Nutrition, our knowledge is growing by the day.

Friday brought a splash of colour and celebration as we marked World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd socks! We enjoyed plenty of activities and discussions, celebrating how unique and wonderfully different we all are. To top it off, we planted sunflower seeds—don’t forget to nurture them at home and watch them grow!

For homework this week, we’ve set a Science Carousel on electricity, along with spelling and times tables practice.

What a fantastic week it’s been! Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
