We have had a very busy week in Year 2 this week and the children have been working really hard.
In maths, we have continued working through multiplication and division. We have covered odd and even numbers, doubling and halving and multiplying and diving by 5 and 10.
In English, we have looked at two poems on the Great Fire of London. The children have identifued the rhyming pattern and different techniques within the poem.
In Science, we have been looking at food chains. We discussed the meanings of a producer, predator, prey and consumer and the children had a go of constructing their own food chains.
In Art, we analysed a piece of work by Kurt Schwitters. The children talked about what they liked and disliked about the piece of art and what materials and techniques they thought the artist had used.
In History, we talked about how much London changed after the fire and what rules King Charles II put in place to try and protect the city.
In Forest School, the children continued to collect twigs, logs and foliage to build dens. The showed resilience when climbing trees and had a go of the clove hitch knot.
Last week, Y2H visited Staircase House in Stockport. We had a fantastic day learning more about the Great Fire of London and journeying through history from the perspective of Samuel Pepys. The children dressed up, crafted and walked in the footsteps of significant people from this historical event.
Today, Friday 21st March, we celebrated World Down's Syndrome Day. The children were invited to wear bright socks in celebration of this special day.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
