As we come to the end of our first half term, we are taking time to reflect on the fantastic work we have done so far in Year 6. We have seen some amazing extra-curricular achievements from both our boys' and girls' football teams, who each reached the quarter-finals of their football tournaments – well done, all! We have enjoyed exciting learning projects such as Languages Day and World Mental Health Day, and we even welcomed ex-pupils and current teachers from Standish High School, who kindly took the time to visit our school and share their experiences of high school with our children.
Bringing the first autumn term to a close has meant the end of a number of learning units: we have concluded our scientific enquiry into classification systems and Carl Linnaeus, and we have finished our electric vehicle prototype in Design Technology. We are also nearing the end of Kensuke’s Kingdom, our first whole-class reading book this year, and we are excited to find out how the story of Kensuke, Michael, and his family comes to an end.
As we look ahead to the next half term, there are lots of exciting things on the horizon – our new text, Pig Heart Boy, a new maths unit focusing on fractions, new artists to uncover, new scientists to research, and a brand new time period to explore: the Victorians!
We hope you all have a lovely half term break and look forward to welcoming you back to school after a restful week off.
