We have finished our Art project this week! We created designed and ngraved them into printing blocks. From here, we mixed colours, painted the blocks and made repeated patterns, just as William Morris did to create his wallpaper.
Also, we finished exploring our English class text, The Abominables. The children expertly considered the themes that run throughout the story and thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the happy lives that the yetis were able to live.
In Geography, the children have learnt about seasonal farming. We discovered the different vegetables that grow in each of the seasons and considered the farmer's role in preparing to plant and harvest crops at the right times. We also explored how farmers have to prepare crops to be fully grown and ready in time to be used during religious festivals like Eid and Diwali. Alternatively, the children could explain that pumpkins are used at Halloween because they are a seasonal food for autumn, so lots will be available in October to make into Jack-O-Lanterns.
In Science, we explored the different types of seed dispersal and considered why it was so important for seeds to grow in different places.
We have had a phenomenal first term in Y3G! The children have been so enthusiastic and eager to learn. It has been wonderful to work with so many exceptional individuals and independent thinkers. I cannot wait to see what the next term brings.
You all deserve and well earned rest, so have a fantastic and safe half term!😀
