Hello Year 5!
We've had a fantastic week full of exciting learning and activities. Here’s what we've been up to:
Science: We delved into the fascinating world of two great scientists, Galileo and Isaac Newton. We learnt about their groundbreaking theories and compared their ideas. It was amazing to see how their work has shaped our understanding of the world!
Design and Technology (DT): In our DT lessons, we explored how different toys move using different mechanisms. This is all part of our project where we will be making our own moving toys using cam systems. We can't wait to see your creations in action!
Maths: We've been working hard on long multiplication, tackling problems up to 4 digit x 2 digit. You've all shown great determination and accuracy in your calculations. Keep up the excellent work!
English: We analysed the character of Father and summarised the first three chapters of Viking Boy. The discussions were insightful, and it was great to see how deeply you've thought about the characters and the story so far.
History: We carried out some research to answer the question 'Who were the Vikings?' We found out that they originated from Norway, Sweden and Denmark and that their first raid on Britain was in 793C.E. on Lindisfarne Monastery, just off the coast of the kingdom of Northumbria. We will look at this event in further detail in our next lesson.
It's been a week full of discovery and creativity.
Well done, Year 5! Let's keep the momentum going next week.
