We've had another wonderful week in Year 2 this week, I am so proud of my little superstars.
In English, we have continued to read 'The Bakers Boy and the Great Fire of London'. The children wrote descriptive sentences to describe the fire. We discussed that the fire was like a living creature, consuming the houses.
In Maths, we have continued to look at shape. We introduced lines of symmetry to the children and they had a go at identifying shapes with a vertical line of symmetry.
In Science, we explored the terms 'Living', 'Dead' and 'Never been Alive'. The children matched the definitions to the correct word and sorted pictures into the correct category.
In History, we started our new topic, 'The Great Fire of London'. We began by completing a picture grid to remember the key facts about this historic event. We learned that the fire started at 1:00am on the 2nd September 1666. It began in a bakery on Pudding Lane and it was the housemaid that alerted everyone to the danger.
In DT, we participated in some food tasting! We tried banana, courgette, lemon and carrot. We evaluated each ingredient and discussed the taste, smell, texture and appearance.
Today, we were surprised by a mystery visitor that entered the school grounds by climbing across the roof! It was none other than Spider Man! He somersaulted off the roof and cartwheeled across the grass! We couldn't believe our eyes!
I hope you have a lovely weekend and come back in on Monday, ready and refreshed for another week of learning.
