Year 1 have had a brilliant week of learning! During our maths lessons, the children have been finding systematic number bonds of 10 and have begun to learn to add more and add together. The children have embraced the new challenge and have learnt how to use ten frames and counters and number lines to support their learning.
In English, the children are still enjoying our text ‘Lost and Found’. We have been learning how to use inference to interpret the feelings of the boy and the penguin. The children are once again still showing us how they can consistently include capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in their sentences.
In DT this week, the children investigated the different parts that make up a hand muff in preparation for designing their own.
In History, the children have been learning about the amenities that Standish offered in the past. The children discovered that Standish used to have its own train station and also a cinema.
This week the homework is maths and has been set online. The children will receive their new reading book on Monday.
Y1R have been to the forest this week and as usual have had an amazing time exploring and having fun. The children learnt about what squirrels need to do survive in the winter and enjoyed playing games in the forest!
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see everybody next week – Year 1 team.
