We have had a great week in year 4 this week!
In English, we have started our new texts of Greek Myths. We have explored the story or Icarus and Daedalus, analysing the characters and their intentions. We have few children who already have lots of knowledge of Greek myths and Henry and Mattie recommended a book called Icarus is Ridiculous! Thanks to Mattie for bringing in his copy to show us, it looks like a great read- a good one for the Christmas list!
We are really looking forward to starting our new story ‘Who Let the Gods out’ next week.
In maths, we have continued working on column subtraction finding the most efficient way to complete the calculations, as well as solidifying our 6 times tables. Please practise column subtraction with exchanges at home if you are still finding it tricky. The more you practise, the easier it will get.
We have started our new topic in Art, focusing on the sculptor Peggy Bjerkan. We have had lots of fun creating a double page fact file all about her and her famous art pieces. She is inspired by Greek theatre masks so we are excited about designing and making our own.
This week has been anti-bullying week, we have completed fun activities to raise awareness of this! A huge well done to the children who participated in the anti-bullying assembly, you should be really proud of yourselves! Take at look at our odd socks photos 🧦
Have a fantastic weekend!
