What a busy week we've had in Year 5! This week was Anti-Bullying Week, and we spent time thinking about what respect looks like and how we can show it every day. It’s been great to hear all your ideas about being kind and standing up for others.
In DT, we got creative with needle and thread, learning different types of stitches. We practiced running stitch, overstitch, and backstitch – some of us even managed to sew in straight lines (well done!). Who knew stitching could be so satisfying?
In Science, we became material detectives! We explored ways to separate mixtures using filtration, sieving, evaporation, and even magnetism. It was fascinating to see how these processes work!
We also had our first drama session with Mrs Jones. She had us stepping into different roles and getting creative with storytelling. Everyone got involved, and there were some brilliant performances – we might have some future actors in the making!
Finally, we’re absolutely hooked on The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. This week, April finally saw the bear for the first time, and we can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Great job this week, Year 5 – let’s keep up the energy for next week! 😊
