This week was Anti-Bullying Week, and we spent time thinking about what respect looks like and how we can show it every day. It’s been great to hear all your ideas about being kind and standing up for others. We also talked about what kindness looked like in both words and actions and how it linked to our school INSPIRE ethos when we are nurturing characters.
In DT, we got creative with needle and thread, learning different types of stitches. We practiced running stitch, overstitch, and backstitch – and even learnt a new stitch - blanket stitch. It was always easy but we showed great resilience and kept practising. We also learnt how to use a sewing machine to join two pieces of fabric to create a strong seam!
In Science, we explored ways to separate mixtures using filtration, sieving, evaporation, and even magnetism. It was fascinating to see how these processes work!
We also had our first drama session with Mrs Jones. She had us stepping into different roles and getting creative with storytelling. Everyone got involved, and there were some brilliant performances – we might have some future actors in the making!
Finally, we’re absolutely hooked on The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. This week, April finally saw the bear for the first time, and we can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Great job this week, Year 5 – have a great weekend! 😊
