What a week we have had!
On Monday, we explored the importance of Rememberance Day and found out lots of information about how and why the day is celebrated. We observed two minutes silence to pay our respects and think about all those who have fought for our country.
In Maths, we have been recapping the four times table and identified the pattern that the ones column takes in a hundred square. Also, we learnt how to estimate and use the inverse operation to find a missing value or to check our working out is accurate.
On Tuesday, we were extremely thrilled to be given the opportunity to visit the Warrington Mosque. We found out lots of facts about the Islamic religion and had time to explore the important features within the mosque. Some of the children asked very insightful questions and gained a lot from the experience. The Imam of the mosque commented on how well behaved and respectful our children are and even gifted the school a prayer mat and prayer beads to support our learning.
Tuesday was also Odd Socks Day. Throughout the week, we completed a range of anti-bullying activities to raise awareness of being kind and respecting everyone. A wonderful assembly, led by children from KS2, helped everyone to engage and consider the meaning of respect. We created kindness leaves for our kindess tree, made posters to promote respecting others and gave each other compliments.
In science, this week, we have created factfiles about different animals by researching what they eat and from this information, we determined whether the animal was a herbivore, omnivore or carnivore. In Spanish, we have started to learn the names of different pieces of equipment that can be found in a pencil case. We were able to use our knowledge of the word 'tengo' (I have) to create sentences about what we have or don't have in our pencil cases.
