This week in Year 5!

In English, we’ve started reading "The Golden Horsemen of Baghdad" by Saviour Pirotta. It's been an incredible journey learning about Jabir and the struggles he faces trying to support his family. The story has really got us thinking about resilience and determination. 📚

In Maths has been all about decimals and fractions lately. We’ve been comparing equivalences and discovering how they relate to each other.

We wrapped up our forces unit in science with a super fun investigation on friction. Using different surfaces, we tested how friction affects movement. We also had a trip to Standish High School. Our sports council did an amazing job presenting their inclusivity project findings. Plus, we got to witness some mind-blowing science experiments using different chemicals.

In art, we’ve started exploring the works of the famous architect Zaha Hadid and the paper sculptor Richard Sweeney. We’re gearing up to create our own sculptures of imaginative buildings and structures. Can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity shine! 🎨

Forest Schools have been a blast! We explored the outdoor area and used our knot-tying skills to create tools and help build structures. It’s amazing what you can achieve with a bit of teamwork and some rope!

In Spanish, we’ve been learning how to talk more fluently about playing sports. We’ve mastered using "I," "you," and "they" with verbs. It’s been great practising our new skills and becoming more confident in speaking Spanish. ¡Fantástico!

Well done everyone, you've worked really hard this week!
