Year 4 Weekly Round-Up!
As we draw the week to a close, let’s take a moment to reflect on all the engaging and educational activities Year 4 children have embarked on this week.
Maths: A Journey into Fractions
This week, we have started a new unit on Fractions. We’ve delved into understanding the whole, partitioning mixed numbers, and using number lines to represent mixed numbers.
English: Stepping into Rhianna's Shoes
In English, the students put on their creative hats and wrote diaries from Rhianna’s point of view, focusing on chapters 1 and 2. The emphasis was on using adverbial openers, exploring character feelings, and crafting expanded noun phrases.
History: The Roman Invasion of Britain
History lessons this week have been a thrilling adventure through time. We discussed the Roman invasion of Britain, exploring why the Romans were so successful. Children made insightful comparisons between the Romans and the Celts, enhancing their understanding of these ancient civilisations.
Science: Classifying Animals
In Science, we continued our exploration of animal classification. The students examined various characteristics of animals, fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of the diversity in the animal kingdom.
Art: Still Life
Our new unit in Art has been all about still life. The students explored different artists who use still life in their work and learned about various art movements. They created a double-page spread showcasing these artists and their techniques, allowing their creativity to shine.
Spanish: Learning Parts of the Face
In Spanish, we’ve been focusing on learning the parts of the face. It’s been wonderful to see the students' enthusiasm as they expand their vocabulary and language skills.
Homework for the Week
This week’s homework is a carousel, including spellings and continued practice of times tables. We encourage all students to dedicate time to these tasks to reinforce their learning from the week.
Have a fantastic weekend!
