We started the week with a trip to the forest. There has been lots of work completed in the forest area over recent months and it was lovely to get down there and see all the changes. The children helped to plant some flower seeds in a new planting area and had lots of fun exploring and searching for signs of spring.
We have continued with our topic ‘Castles and Dragons’ and learned about Coats of Arms. We looked at local school uniforms and noticed that each school has an owl as part of their logo. The children each created their own coat of arms using things that are important to them to represent themselves. We read ‘George and the Dragon by Christopher Wormell in drawing club and had to look closely at the illustrations to help us to understand the story. The children enjoyed completing drawing and writing inspired by the text. They are all impressing me with their growing independence.
In Maths, we continued to explore the numbers 9 and 10 and have made 10 with different parts. Mr Carr has been very impressed with the children’s ability in dance this week as they explored different movements. Our sunflowers are beginning to develop shoots and the children have taken a keen interest in their progress and helped to look after them. We opened our workshop area this week and the chidlren were excited to begin to learn the skills they need to use tools safely. The childrn impressed me today with their poetry reading and have obviously worked hard practising at home.
Well done to all our award winners this week, we are very proud of you.
Have a lovely weekend 😊
