Believe Sports Awards

Award-winning Wood Fold were welcomed by mayor Cllr Debbie Parkinson this week after achieving the ‘Inclusion in Sport’ award at the Believe Sports awards back in October. Mrs Gough, Mr Carr and some of the sports councillors were invited into the mayor’s parlour where they were thanked for all their hard work, dedication and commitment that goes into providing sporting opportunities and engaging PE lessons for all of the children at Wood Fold.

Cross Country Event

Last Saturday, children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the annual Graham Jackett cross country event, which was held at Leigh Sports Village. Wood Fold were up against 12 other schools, with up to 80 children competing in each race. Unlike the previous year, the children had perfect weather conditions for the run and a huge crowd to cheer them along. All the children gave it their all, with every child finishing the race in fantastic times and positions.

Some special mentions goes to Maisie and Alice (Year 4), who finished 3rd and 4th in the Y3/4 girls race, Samuel (Year 4), who finished in 2nd in the Y3/4 boys race, Lyla (Year 5), who finished 2nd in the Y5/6 girls race and to Ollie (Year 6) who finished in 4th place in the Y5/6 boys race. Overall, the Y5/6 girls team finished in 2nd place out of the 12 other schools, and overall, the KS2 girls team finished in 3rd place. An amazing achievement from the children and one that they can be extremely proud of.
