We have come to the end of our final week this half term and the children have continued to focus on and enjoy their continued learning journey ready for their break next week.

English: This week in English, our Year 1 children have been busy retelling the enchanting story of 'Meerkat Mail'. They have been working on their storytelling skills, using their imagination to bring the adventures of the Sunny the meerkat to life. The children have done a fantastic job of creating their own versions of the tale, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and creativity.

Maths: In Maths, our focus has been on number bonds within 20. The children have been practising their addition skills, learning how different numbers can come together to make 20. They have enjoyed using various activities and resources to reinforce their understanding of these important concepts.

Geography: This term in Geography, our lessons have centred around hot and cold places. The children have been exploring the different climates, weather patterns, and unique characteristics of these environments. They have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm as they completed their final enquiry question about everything they have learned.

Science: In Science, the children have completed their final enquiry question about the season of winter. This term they have been investigating how the weather changes, how animals adapt, and the different activities that take place during this season. It has been wonderful to see them engage with their learning and deepen their understanding of winter.

Music Day!: We had a fantastic Music Day this week, where the children had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite musicians. They spent the day singing, dancing, and participating in various musical activities. It was a joyful and lively day, filled with laughter and creativity.

As we reach the end of this term, we want to thank all the parents for their continued support and involvement. The children have made excellent progress and have had a lot of fun along the way. We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break over the half term, and we look forward to seeing the children back in school, ready for more learning adventures.

Have a wonderful half term break,

Year 1 team.
