Wow what a week we have had this week in Year 1! Firstly, we would all like to say a huge well done to all of the children in Year 1 for their amazing singing in the KS1 Christmas Nativity, we are extremely proud of them all!
In DT the children have started to make their hand muffs and are enjoying seeing their designs being created.
During our maths lessons this week, the children have been learning the names of 3D shapes and 2D shapes. They have been able to recognise how many sides and vertices the shapes have and why the shapes are called 3D and 2D.
In Geography this week we have learnt the names of all 5 oceans and have been able to locate them on the map of the world. The children have also learned a new song ‘The oceans song’!
In History, the children have looked at similarities and differences in Standish from the past and the present. The children have also been introduced a significant person from the past called Myles Standish and have learned all about the part he played in helping English pilgrims get to America on the Mayflower ship.
This week the homework is Mymaths and as it is coming up to the Christmas holidays we won’t be giving reading books out for the last week of term.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see everybody next week – Year 1 team.
