This Week in Year 5
What a fantastic week it’s been! We’ve completed our Claude Monet-inspired Impressionist paintings, putting the final touches on our colourful canvas masterpieces. They’re ready to be displayed, so keep an eye out for our mini-gallery soon! A sneak peak below!!
In science, we’ve been busy investigating different solids to see if they’re soluble in warm water. We tested things like salt, sugar, rice, and jelly crystals. Some dissolved, while others didn’t – it’s always a surprise seeing which solids blend into water and which ones stay whole. We felt like real chemists, experimenting and making predictions!
We also kicked off a new book, The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. It’s already an exciting adventure, following a girl named April who forms an incredible bond with a polar bear on a remote Arctic island.
Finally, we began looking into different types of hats and headgear as we prepare for our next DT project: designing and making our own hats. We’re learning about form and function, and soon we’ll start preparing our own ideas.
We also won class points this week, Well Done Year 5T, Keep it up!
