We have had a very busy first week back in Y5D. In art we finished off our Monet inspired landscape paintings and they look amazing! They are now ready to be displayed in our school art gallery and we couldn't be prouder of how they have turned out.
In science, we’ve been busy investigating solubility to answer the question, 'Which solids are soluble and which are insoluble in water'. We tested things like salt, sugar, rice, and jelly crystals. Some dissolved, while others didn’t. We felt like real chemists, experimenting and making predictions!
We also started our new book in English, The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. It’s already an exciting adventure, following a girl named April who forms an incredible bond with a polar bear on a remote Arctic island. We are really looking forward to reading about April's adventures.
in DT we have started looking at the uses of hats and thinking about how hats are made for different purposes and for different users. We discussed the work of a milliner and the difference between hand-made hats and mass produced hats made in factories.
Finally, as part of Digital Citizenship, we have discussed how to stay safe when using digital media, thinking about information about ourselves that is personal and private and what information should not be shared online.
Have a lovely weekend.
