What a wonderful first week back!
This week we have been learning to use column methods when adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers. We have started to practise exchanging when the numbers in the ones column equal more than 10. We have had huge success with this!
We have started our new text in English which is Stig of the Dump. The children have been reading experts by successfully retrieving information from the text to find out what the character, Stig, and his dump is like. I am hugely looking forward to reading the settting descriptions of the dump that we will start writing on Monday. Some of the ideas and adjectives used on the plans today have been fantastic.
In Spanish, we have continued to learn the numbers 1-10. The children answered quick fire questions and wrote Spanish number sentences in their books, with accuracy.
We have started our new project in Art. We will be exploring the work and practising the techniques used by Leonardo Da Vinci. We created our artist page by colour washing the background, as Da Vinci did in his own paintings and conducted research to find out about his artwork.
I am so proud of the children's resilience and efforts this week. We have completed our Plants and Agriculture End of Unit Quizzes in which the children tried their best and very successful in demonstrating their learning. Well done!
It was fun (and spooky) to have a classroom full of Halloween hair and headdresses. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting into the Halloween spirit and showed some really scary faces! 🎃
