This week in Spanish we have been looking at using adjectives to describe the planets in 'la Sistema Solar'.

We have been using Tinkercad to design a badge that can be sewed onto a hat we will be making in DT next half term. It was very tricky but we showed lots of resilience to make sure the parts that we put together, using computer aided design, were accurate and that we had all the elements we needed. Our badges will be printed out on the 3D printer when we have finished designing them.

in Art, we have started to explore the techniques used by Claude Monet to create an impression of Monet's 'Japanese Bridge and Water Lillies'. We thought about how using short brush strokes in different directions can create texture. We concentrated on using broken colour when mixing the colours of our acrylic paints, so we didn't lose the separate colours, creating depth to add layers to our artwork.

On Thursday as part of 'Hello Yello' we came to school wearing bright clothes and explored how we can look after our mental well-being. We doodled what made us happy using inspiration from 'The Doodle Boy'.

We have been History Detectives this week and have explored the Anglo Saxon excavation at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk. We discussed how we know about life in the past and considered whether different pieces of historical evidence was a primary or secondary source of information.

During Anglo Saxon times, Sutton Hoo would have been part of the East Anglia Kingdom. We found out that a huge Anglo Saxon ship was found in the middle of a field and was the burial ship of a very important Anglo Saxon figure. We analysed what the artefacts found during the excavation told us about the person who might have been buried there and used clues about a number of important Anglo Saxon kings to work out who it could have been that was buried there.

Congratulations to Y5D for winning Mrs Jones's Music award for their fantastic effort and enthusiasm during our Music Assembly. Have a lovely weekend.
