We have had a lovely week in Year One!

In English, we have continued to read Superworm. We have been comparing the two characters, Superworm and Wizard Lizard, thinking about what is the same and what is different. The children have been working hard on correctly punctuating their sentences ensuring they are using their capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

In Maths, the children have been ordering numbers and objects from greatest and smallest and to smallest to greatest within 10.

In Art, we have been enthusiastically practising the skills we need to do the circles in our final piece next week when we will be creating a painting in the style of Wassily Kandinsky. The children used their paint brushes to paint circles freehand.

The children have enjoyed learning the compass and the acronyms to help them remember the correct order. Naughty Elephants Squirt Water was one of their favourites!

We have also been preparing the children for their trip around Standish next week where we will complete our fieldwork. The children have been learning about map symbols and plotting the route onto a map that we will be taking around Standish.

Homework this week will be Sounds Write and will be in their homework books alongside their spellings.
