This week has been another busy and fun week in reception.
In English, the children have continued to explore the traditional tale, Little Red Riding Hood. They have learnt some new vocabulary connected with the story, including traipse, crafty, menacing and concealed. They have drawn their own versions of Grandma's house. There were some imaginative ideas which included houses with pools, outdoor toilets and trees with bells!
In Maths, the children have been learning about patterns. Firstly, they explored different patterns in the environment then they learnt to follow a pattern and then create their own pattern. These included patterns with actions.
In P.E., the children practised and extended their climbing skills as they used the climbing apparatus. Mr Carr was very impressed with the confidence that many children showed as they tackled this new challenge.
In Personal Development, we discussed our school community and who all the adults are within it, discussing what jobs the adults do and how the children believe they help them.
It was lovely to see the children dressed in bright colours on Thursday. They all created a badge depicting something about them or that they enjoy doing. #HelloYellow
The children have continued to learn more phonics sounds including h, b and c and they were very excited to take home their first ever reading book! Thank you to those of you who attended our reading workshop on Monday, we hope you found it useful and you have enjoyed your child sharing their first reading book with you. The slides from the workshop are available on the school website for those of you who were unable to attend.
Homework has been set on Tapestry.
Well done to our Star of the Week and Dojo winners this week, you have been excellent role models.
Have a lovely weekend ready for the last week of this half term – hasn’t that come around quickly!
