Our prototype vehicles are developing well in Design Technology. After creating our chassis, we have begun the process of adding the body of the vehicle. To do this, we have created axles using pieces of dowel, axel holders out of card and finally attached these, along with wheels, to the chassis.
We have continued to explore, ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ this week by putting ourselves back in the shoes of the protagonist, Michael. We are still stranded on the desert island and are trying to come to terms with the range of emotions that Michael is experiencing upon realising he is desperate to survive, but that he is not alone. As we move towards the end of term, we hope to finish this story soon to see whether Michael and Kensuke manage to survive.
On Thursday we celebrated ‘Hello Yellow’ Day, an opportunity to further explore our own and other’s mental health and well-being. Across Year 6, we learned about the power of positive self-talk and worked on strategies to stay positive in the face of difficulties. We are looking to strive, rather than just survive!
In computing, we have started a brand new unit, exploring the use of data and statistics in spreadsheets. This is a new skill, one which we have had a lot of fun exploring.
