Welcome back, Year 5!
What a fantastic start to the new term we've had! Despite the snow and ice, everyone braved the cold and made it into school with big smiles and lots of enthusiasm. Well done, everyone!
This week, we've dived straight into our new book, Viking Boy by Tony Bradman. We kicked things off by making predictions about what the story might be about. It's been exciting to hear all your imaginative ideas and thoughts on the adventures that await us in the book.
In History, we've begun our new unit on the Vikings. We learned about their arrival in Britain in 793CE and discussed the significance of this event. It's been fascinating to start exploring this period and understand more about the Vikings' initial presence in Britain.
We've also spent time revisiting some of our previous subjects. We focused on recall activities to ensure we hadn't forgotten key information and that it was embedded in our long-term memory. This included topics from P.E., Music, DT, and Science. It was great to see how much everyone remembered and to reinforce our learning.
It's been a busy and productive week, and we're looking forward to all the exciting learning and activities that lie ahead this term.
Keep up the great work, Year 5!
