On Monday this week, it was our turn for the Forest School. The forest was a little too muddy so the children spent their lesson on the grass at the far end of the field. They continued to learn about Autumn and how this impacts on wildlife and they all collected leaves and made a nest for a hedgehog. The children then made their own hedgehogs using clay and small sticks. The children found a slight incline on the field and enjoyed rolling down it with their friends!
In English this week, the children have explored a firework poem. They learnt some exciting new vocabulary and then even designed their own firework. They accompanied their drawings with CVC words such as; hot and big and some children challenged themselves to write a short caption, such as; it is hot. Absolutely amazing!
In Maths, the children have been learning about circles and triangles. They have explored the different properties of these shapes using mathematical vocabulary. The have used these shapes to squash in playdough and print with paint.
The children have also been learning about Bonfire Night and the many traditions usually associated with it. They then created some stunning firework pictures using glitter and pastels. Our classroom was definitely very sparkly that day! They all the completed a piece of work showing their understanding of Bonfire Night traditions.
In PE, the children showed brilliant enthusiasm in their transport unit. They demonstrated wonderful jumping onto pot holes, running quick around roundabouts as well as pretending to be aeroplanes by travelling along the benches with their arms out to the side.
This afternoon we had a visit from Life Education and the children met Harold the Giraffe. He shared lots of information with the children about keeping healthy and clean and even let some of the children give him a wash! They all loved meeting him.
Well done to our award winners this week.
Homework is set on Tapestry. Have a lovely weekend.
