We have had another very busy week in Year 2 this week!
In English, we have been continuing to read a non-fiction text on The Great of London. This week, we have been looking at specific comprehension skills such as skimming and scanning, looking for clues, highlighting and sequencing.
In Maths, we have continued our unit on Multiplication and Division. This week we have been using arrays, exploring the difference between grouping and sharing and writing multiplication sentences.
In Science, we looked at our how animals are suited to their habitats and how they have adapted to the environment.
In History, we looked at different sources that tell us about the past. We talked about Samuel Pepys' diary, a painting of the great fire of London and a newspaper article.
On Thursday 6th March, we celebrated World Book Day. The children were invited to come into school dressed as their favourite book character, a colour or their comfy clothes. The enthusiasm and effort from everybody was amazing to see. The children took part in a workshop delivered by Alex Winstanley and his team from Happy Smiles Training. They were inspirational people and read their newest book out to the children, which was called 'Change'.
Today, we have had the most incredible time at Staircase House. We enjoyed exploring the house which dated back to 1666. We then created our own fire mark, bucket chain and used wattle and daub. The children behaved exceptionally well and I was extremely proud of them all.
Have a lovely weekend! 😊
