In Science this week, we have contiuned learning about teeth. We have focused on the different teeth animals have due to their diets of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We have learnt that although carnivores have premolars and molars, they are still extremely sharp as they need to rip and tear food, whereas omnivores have flat and bumpy premolars and molars. We had lots of fun looking at pictures of animals skulls and working in a team to figure out what diet they may have by identifying the types of teeth they have. We learnt that egg shells contain calcium which is similar to our teeth as enamel also contains calcium too. We had lots of fun evaluating our egg experiment, exploring the effects that Coca-Cola, orange juice, vinegar, water and milk have on our teeth.
In Geography, we are now able to dicuss why Ghana is a suitable place to grow cocoa. Ghana has a tropical climate, it is close to the equator which means it has plenty of rain and sunshine all year round. Ghana also provides alot of shade for the cacoa trees due to the taller trees they are surround the Cacoa trees. We have started to look at how cocoa becomes chocolate and the different processes it goes through.
This week in DT, we have continuted our sewing journey and practised using a running stitch, over stitch and a back stitch and evaluated which technique is the strongest and most effective one to use on our cushion
This week in Maths, we had lots of fun learning Roman numerals and putting these into practice.
