In Maths this week, we have been focusing on factors and multiples as well as rules of divisibility. For example, if the sum of the digits in a number is a multiple of 9, it is in the 9 times table: 6093 -> 6 + 0 + 9 + 3 = 18, so 6093 is divisible by 9. We have also looked at long multiplication which is a way to multiply upto 4-digit numbers by a 2-digit number. For example, you can find out that 2162 x 14

In English, we have continued to explore the classic children’s castaway novel, ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. Michael, the star of our story, has been washed on an island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean and has finally met the mysterious Kensuke. The children have been writing a character description of Kensuke, exploring the island survivor as a person, character and a key figure in the novel.

We used our measuring, cutting and joining skills in D.T to create a vehicle chassis. Over the next few weeks, we will use our load-bearing frame to support the electric vehicle which we are creating.

As well as this, we have continued to explore coastal processes in geography. After looking at how a beach formed, we have extended this further by investigating how stacks, stumps and arches are formed. We look forward to studying in more depth in the coming week.

Our author of the week has been Piers Torday. We learnt about his life and looked at one of his books called 'The Last Wild'.

Well done Y6H for all your hard work this week, you should all be very proud of yourselves.

Have a great weekend and I will see you all on Monday morning for another exciting week of learning!
