It was lovely to welcome the children back to school on Monday and hear all their half term news.
This week we have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The children have explored different Diwali traditions and listened to the story of Rama and Sita. They have experimented with their own Rangoli patterns and made Diya lamps from clay. We ended the week with a Diwali party where we tasted some Indian snacks and learned a dance together.
It was extremely wet in the forest this week, so we sheltered under the trees and found out about hedgehogs, we even played a hedgehog game!
The children made me very proud during their bikeability sessions where they learned about the importance of wearing a helmet and how to ride a balance bike safely by gliding and stopping using the brakes. It was lovely to watch them grow in confidence through the sessions. I was very impressed by how they were proud of their friends and supported each other, cheering each other on and helping with helmets.
In Maths we have been representing 1-3 and finding 1 more and 1 less. In English we watched the animation ‘Meg and Mog’ which got us in the mood for Halloween! The children impressed me with their ideas. Some of them are beginning to write captions for their drawings now which is lovely to see.
Have a lovely weekend.
