It was lovely to welcome the children back into school following the half-term break and hear all their holiday stories.

This week the children have been exploring Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The children have explored different Diwali traditions and listened to the story of Rama and Sita. They have created Diya lamps from clay, adding embellishments such as gems and glitter. They have experimented with their own Rangoli patterns in coloured sand and paint. Today, they even had the opportunity to taste some different foods associated with the festival. Poppadoms were a definite keen favourite!

In Maths, the children have been learning about 1 more and 1 less. They have really enjoyed singing songs which support this learning including, 'Five Little Speckled Frogs' and 'Five Little Elephants'.

On Wednesday and Thursday this week, the Be Well Team delivered ‘Balanceability’ sessions, where all the children learnt to ride a balance bike. This included how to keep safe, how to use the brakes and stop effectively. They all took part and really enjoyed the sessions and there were certainly a few children who enjoyed going fast and racing one another!

For Halloween, it was lovely to see lots of spooky hairstyles and headbands and they also enjoyed taking part in the PTFA’s 'Lucky Dip'.

In English this week, we have explored the animation, Meg and Mog. The children have designed houses and potions for the characters and written sounds, words and labels. I was very impressed with their writing.

Homework is set on Tapestry. Have a lovely weekend.
